OUR HISTORY
Welcome to United African Presbyterian Church (UAPC), Dallas, Texas. Our church is currently and gratefully nesting in the beautiful chapel at First Presbyterian church, Dallas, Texas. UAPC was chartered by Grace Presbytery in 2003. The original members led a vibrant congregation that grew in faith, ministry, and membership. UAPC has served the African community in the DFW Metroplex for the past 22 years with the intent to share the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. UAPC is a place where everyone is welcome to worship, learn, and grow as followers of Jesus Christ.
In 2003, UAPC was organized under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Julius Edah. UAPC is a member of Grace Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. From 2003 to 2005, the original members worshiped at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, located on Marsh Lane and Royal Lane. In 2005, the Grace Presbytery relocated UAPC to 10210 Webb Chapel Rd, Dallas, TX 75229, and later to 2402 Crown Road, where we were until 2022.
WHO WE ARE
Our membership comes from Denton, Aubrey, Frisco, Wylie, Rowlett, Rockwell, Garland, Arlington, and the surrounding areas of Dallas-Fort Worth. UAPC is a happy and welcoming community where we are learning to love like Jesus, which means you, whoever you are.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Our constitution informs us of our faith, as expressed in the Book of Confessions. During our weekly worship, we declare our faith using the words of the Apostle’s Creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
*or "he descended into hell," another translation of this text that is widely used.
We believe that the Bible is the authoritative word of God.
